Welcome to North Wales Shooting School

First opened in the early 1950’s, at Rhosesmor in the NE Wales hills and then Sealand Manor by Glynne and David Jones, NWSS soon offered prize money of £500 for DTL competitions and one of the earliest ISU skeet layouts in the UK and a dedicated shooting pavilion.

All the machines and clays were home made. ABT followed, then over 40 years specialisation in Olympic Trap with 4 acoustic layouts. Our first British Grand Prix of Olympic Trap was held in 1958. A black and white photograph of the participants is displayed in the pavilion. Note kneeling in the foreground a very young Jackie Stewart OBE, who brought television, mainstream sponsorship and a huge celebrity following into our sport following his friendship with the Jones family before being sidetracked into a very successful career in motor racing.
